Resideo’s smart solutions take to the stage at the Ideal Home Show

The Ideal Home Show was a perfect backdrop to highlight the smart technology behind Resideo’s water leak prevention and detection solutions.

With the average household water damage claim running to tens of thousands of pounds, according to The Association of British Insurers*, the ability to help mitigate the potential trauma, distress and cost of a water damage incident should be a service offering all installers proactively promote.

The Resideo Braukmann L1 Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector, and L5 Wi-Fi Water Leak Shutoff Valve, are smart solutions that can help limit the volume of water leak incidents currently taking place and reduce their effect on homes.

This year, Resideo’s technology in this space took its place alongside other innovating product solutions when it was featured on the Smart Home stage at the recent Ideal Home show hosted at Olympia in London.

Tech guru and TV host, Lee Baldry led Smart Home presentations during the course of the show, pointing out the many smart technology advances that ensure homeowners have more control over their living spaces than ever before. And consumers - many for the first time - were able to hear more about the benefits of the Resideo Braukmann L5 Wi-Fi Water Leak Shutoff Valve.

Lee highlighted the advantages of Resideo’s smart solutions when it comes to water leak detection and prevention. He even used his own water leak experience to give first-hand experience of the resulting damage an undetected water leak in the home can cause.

The L1 and L5 solutions were also on display after the demonstrations with QR codes allowing show visitors to find further information.

With visitor numbers in excess of 50,000, the profile of the Ideal Home Show meant that the L1 and L5 smart solutions were on display to a wide number of potential customers, opening doors to increased business opportunity for installers.  This is in addition to the ongoing best practice advice installers can give to clients around sensible preventative measures such as regular maintenance and proper installation of all water systems.

The L1 is placed in areas where water can lead to tangible damage and is ideal for bathrooms, utility rooms, under sinks or around pipes.  Wi-Fi enabled, the L1 alerts incidents of leaks or frozen pipes with smartphone notifications via the Resideo Smart Home App.  If the worst happens and a leak is detected, the L5 water leak shutoff valve can automatically turn off the water supply to the home when the L1 detects water.

Pairing the L1 and L5 Wi-Fi smart solutions with the Resideo App even allows homeowners to set alerts to notify their trade professional about a leak occurrence and ensure that timely fixes can be organised to rectify the issue.

And, with greater awareness of such solutions amongst the public, installers will be better placed to begin to have informed conversations about the merits of water leak detection and shut off systems to mitigate the unwanted consequences of water damage to homes and property.

As Lee mentioned in his presentation: “If I had known about this back then, I would have fitted one of these swiftly. Easy to install and easy to control – it is so good.”
