Resideo's Nagykanizsa Manufacturing Site Harnesses Green Power for Its Operations

Rolle, Switzerland 29 July 2021 – Resideo Technologies Inc. (NYSE: REZI), a global provider of home comfort and security solutions, today announced that it has reduced electrical energy usage from non-renewable energy sources by 8% - an estimated reduction of CO2 of around 205 metric tons annually – from the use of solar panels at the company's manufacturing site in Nagykanizsa, Hungary.

The Nagykanizsa site manufactures gas valves, boiler controls, expansion and water control valves, sensors and actuators. These are supplied to original equipment manufacturing (OEM) customers of all sizes globally and also sold through distributors.

Bodo Molitor, Resideo's EMEA Integrated Supply Chain vice president, explained the importance of the move: "Sustainability and energy efficiency make all-round business sense. It's good for the planet and is cost efficient. Obviously, there needs to be an initial investment to get the panels up and running - and we're appreciative of the Hungarian Government's subsidy program to support our efforts. We estimate that the energy the solar panels generate could reduce the site's annual electricity bill costs by around 15% by the end of 2021."

And solar panels are not the only environmental move the site has made. Over the past year or so Nagykanizsa has made a series of additional changes to be even more energy efficient, which will result in further CO2 reductions and additional annual utility bill savings.

József Pécsi, Nagykanizsa site leader, explains the nature of the changes at this site: "Over the last 18 months or so we've also replaced thousands of internal and external lighting components with more energy efficient versions, we've introduced a new condensing boiler for heating, as well as upgrading our pipe and water systems. It has been the right thing to do for our company, our site and our local environment."
