Resideo Hosts 32Nd Annual Connect Customer Event

Event Brings Together Security and HVAC companies for networking, educational sessions, community service and celebration of achievements

Resideo was proud to host its 32nd annual CONNECT customer event in person Dec 9-12 in Orlando, Florida. With a theme promised to bring customers “Together,” key leaders focused on what matters most. In addition to sharing new products and services tailored to unique customer preferences, Resideo gathered several hundred of its customers and partners for the four-day event filled with networking, education, recognition and fun.

"Resideo employees wake up each day to help simplify the connected world so our customers can have peace of mind and can focus on what matters most," said Phil Theodore, Products & Solutions president at Resideo, during his keynote speech. "We imagine a world where homes and buildings are good for the planet – where what we sell through our network of professionals helps homeowners live a comfortable and secure life. This simplification and optimization will help us achieve our goal to reduce Resideo's greenhouse gas emissions, waste and water and energy use by 20% by 2025."

Training the Next Generation

When it comes to choosing a career – representation matters. Resideo is investing heavily in areas impacting the professional channel: from enhancing its own world-class training to advancing the education, training, and career progression for skilled technical workers, Resideo's recent efforts were showcased at CONNECT.

Continuing partnership with the Building Talent Foundation (BTF), Resideo and BTF recently co-chaired an HVAC Industry Education Council to help vocational schools, manufacturers and employers discuss career pathways, alignment of training programs to industry needs, and ideas on how to build a better vibrant talent pipeline. Resideo plans to replicate this work across the U.S., and other regions to expand beyond HVAC to cover security and other trades.

"We're excited to be partnering with Resideo to help train the next generation of professional tradespeople that are sorely needed across the building, HVAC, plumbing and security industries," said Branka Minic, CEO of Building Talent Foundation. "It was so great to be part of CONNECT 2021 and meet with so many companies that are all facing talent challenges, but could become our employer partners.”

Resideo Academy's educational content is available online, in-person and in classrooms around the world so technicians have access to the quality learning content they need, when they need it, and in a format that works for them. Professional installers, distribution partners, security dealers, OEM partners and key accounts will have access to the learning content provided by instructors with extensive field and application expertise.

Resideo recently established a partnership with Minneapolis Community & Technical College to help build a strong pipeline of graduates to help fill the many open roles in the HVAC industry. This partnership included equipment donations to increase student proficiency in the latest technologies, training on the new equipment in their lab, curriculum development support, and scholarships for prospective students.

Community Impact

Each year, one of the highlights of the CONNECT event is the community service event. On Thursday, a broad cross-section of Resideo customers, sponsors and employees helped provide a sense of normalcy to foster children who face a constantly changing environment. The group packed duffle bags that contain essential items and notes of support that will help provide comfort to the children. Orlando Emergency Signal President, Marvin Smith, who is involved in foster care in central Florida, made the connection for Resideo to Embrace Families, a local Orlando organization that helps support local children through foster care, adoption and mentoring.
