Credentials are earned by completing an assessment tailored to a specific field of study and application requirements. To help you prepare for the assessment, Resideo Academy offers in-person courses with hands-on labs where you can learn and refine your skills.
Resideo Academy's Badges are organized into three tiers to reflect your experience in the industry and tuned to the following audiences:
- Associate – Entry-level technician; vocational graduate
- Specialist – Experienced with installations/maintenance in key systems
- Lead – Oversees projects or teams; advanced diagnostics and system design

HVAC Controls Associate
The HVAC Controls Associate exam tests your knowledge of the core functionality of thermostats including standard wiring, programming, basic safety practices, and troubleshooting procedures.
HVAC Smart Controls Specialist
The HVAC Smart Controls exam tests your knowledge of the functionality of connected and advanced thermostats, including their features, system compatibility, wiring, and troubleshooting.
To be eligible to take this exam, you must have earned the HVAC Controls Specialist exam.
HVAC Fuel System Specialist
The HVAC Fuel System exam assesses your knowledge and understanding of critical concepts and practical skills including the functions and safety features of gas valves.
To be eligible to take this exam, you must have earned the HVAC Controls Specialist exam.
Integrated Smart Security Specialist
The Integrated Smart Security exam assesses your knowledge and understanding of critical concepts and practical skills in security systems and smart home automation. This exam covers various topics, including installing and configuring alarm systems, using various sensors and communicators, and integrating smart devices within a security setup.
